With my interview track, you share your stories and I do the writing. During relaxed, personal interviews, we capture your memories and turn them into a beautiful book you’ll treasure.

Ready to tell your story your way? Let’s go! Here’s how it works:

1. I help you prepare to share your stories.

I provide you with a packet to help you recall and make note of your most important life events and stories.

We come up with a project overview and timeline to complete your life story book.

2. You talk. I listen. I also ask questions and coach you through the whole process.

We sit down together either in person or via technology and record your stories over a series of casual interviews.

3. I write and design your book, and you give input.

I transcribe and edit the interview while preserving your voice and personality, then I create a working manuscript.

We edit together until you are satisfied with your stories.

We send your manuscript to a professional proofreader* who will polish the manuscript, looking for grammar, punctuation, and flow issues. We work with the proofreader to create a final version of the text.

You pick your favorite photos to go along with your stories.

I add your pictures and design the manuscript into a beautiful book. Design may include fonts, title page, table of contents, timeline, chapter openers, headers/footers, page numbers, book cover, etc.

We work together through the whole process until you are satisfied with the finished product.

4. You print as many copies of your book as you want.**

I get the book completely ready to print and send it to the printer. You'll have a book you are happy to share for generations!

* Proofreader is an independent contractor who bills separately.
** Books are printed and billed by a third party. I will prepare the files according to the printing company's specifications and oversee the printing process. I primarily collaborate with BYU Print and Mail for printing. Their pricing depends on the length of the book, number of pages with a color photo, and type of cover chosen. A hardback 8.5" x 11" book typically costs about $50 for 150 pages.

Interview Track
A typical book of 150-200 pages includes about 8-10 interviews hours and about 150 pictures. The project usually takes 8-12 months.

A typical book of 150-200 pages takes me about 200 hours to complete, depending on how prepared you are for your interviews, how many photos you include, what other documents or information you want included, etc. One interview hour takes about 15-20 hours to transcribe, edit, add pictures, and design into book form.
$75 per hour, payable monthly.
A typical book is $10,000 - $15,000.
